Why do you need backups of your Website?
Your new website is live! You are going in making blog posts, updating and moving site content, and OOPS! You have accidentally erased a file or changed something you can’t figure out how to change back. No worries, you have backups of your site files…… right?
Website backups are an essential part of owning and maintaining a website. It is the site owner’s responsibility to keep a recent backup of your site files in case the unforeseen happens and restoration is required. Having a copy of your site files on your own computer can be very useful in case something happens like a malware attack or you accidentally erase or overwrite a file – having a copy on hand can minimise the stress and time of recovery.
How to take a Backup?
The old fashioned way is to back up your site files yourself. The easiest and most direct way is to access your site files via FTP to your account and download all of the available files in your web directory. This provides you with immediate access to the files you may have lost, and they are now available for upload whenever you need them again. Database backups can usually be made through your hosting company’s control panel.
There are easier ways such as using a backup service or backup plugin.
The easiest is to let someone else manage it for you.
That’s where I come in!!!
I offer maintenance contracts and hosting accounts both of which include backups.
With my hosting account, I include 1 full backup every 24 hours. The backup is stored in a separate datacenter to your hosted site.
With my maintenance contract, I spoil you with backups!
You have a database backup every 4 hours (which can be lowered to every 1 hour if necessary) You also get a daily full site backup. This “live” backup is stored in a separate data centre to your site. It allows restoration up to 30 calendar days prior and also once per week for an additional 2 months. Finally, I image my servers every day as part of my disaster recovery plan.
If you would like details of my maintenance contract or hosting account, I’m available throughout the day on Live Chat or you can give us a call or email using the details at the bottom of this page.
