Small Business Websites

Small Business Websites

Historically, if you wanted to spread the word about who you are and what your business does, you got out there on the streets, talked to people, placed ads in all sorts of local directories and prayed your local customers would tell a few friends. And whilst this all still works, the main way a small business can establish a name is by creating a website along with a social media presence. The process is what’s commonly referred to as “going digital”

Reasons for a small business website

It’s a common misconception that small business websites are not necessary, but this couldn’t be further from the truth! In fact, a website is one of the most important marketing tools for any business, big or small. In this article, I will explore why you need a website.

Credibility

A small business that doesn’t have a website tends to get marginalised with each passing year.  Not only are they tougher to find online, but there seems to be a growing level of distrust for any business that does not have some sort of online presence.

Better Visibility

It’s no secret that virtually everyone uses the internet.  It’s also pretty common knowledge that most people will log into the web whenever they need to find a nearby product or service – an activity that especially suits the small business owner that thrives on local business.  Without a website, there is a very high possibility that such a customer will never know the small business exists.

More Business

Having a website will allow more people to be aware of your business.  And if there are more people aware of your existence, more people will most likely visit you.  By that rationale, it stands to reason that more people will become paying customers.

It is really not that expensive or difficult anymore!!!

Many small businesses do not have an established website because they are put off by all of the perceived work that goes into creating one.  However, the reality is that the modern website is not all that difficult to set up, and it’s even easier to maintain and manage daily – even if you’re not a tech-head.

The bottom line

If you own a small business and if you don’t have a website, you will find it significantly more difficult to compete with small businesses that do have websites as the years go by. Post Covid-19 I believe that online will become the new normal.
